St. Ann's Strengthens: Gabrielle's Story
Gabrielle's Story
Gabrielle wears a lot of hats. In the morning she is a senior in St. Ann’s High School, on a path to graduate in May 2015. In the afternoon she is a paid intern for a well-regarded local business, where she hopes to secure full-time after graduation.
But Gabrielle’s knows that her most important job is the one she thinks about all day long: a mother to her two year old daughter, Callie.
When Gabrielle noticed that Callie wasn’t picking words up as quickly as other children her age, she decided to ask St. Ann’s parenting instructor for help. With her instructor’s guidance and support, Gabrielle learned how to track her daughter’s progress on important developmental milestones. She learned how to encourage Callie to try new words through interactive reading activities. Today, Gabrielle credits this support for making her into a more engaged and knowledgeable parent.
If Gabrielle's story speaks to you, please share it with someone you know. With your voice, we can spread the mission and message of St. Ann's.
About St. Ann's Child Care Center
St. Ann’s Child Care Center offers affordable child care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children (ages two months through four years) from our local community, as well as the children living at St. Ann’s.
Our staff has over 30 years of experience in providing quality care for at-risk children and children with special needs, such as speech delays, impaired motor skill development, and cognitive challenges.
The Child Care Center makes a special effort to assist low-income, single-parent families and families in crisis by ensuring that their children have developmentally appropriate child care and are prepared for the important transition to school.
Our Child Care staff also provides weekly parenting classes and 1-on-1 parenting support to mothers in St. Ann's residential care programs: Grace House, Hope House and Faith House. By teaching our clients the keys to successful parenting, we aim to strengthen the bond between mother and child.
