Speak Your Way to Success
When was the last time you had a conversation with someone and just could not make out what they were saying? Isn’t it frustrating not being able to get a clear answer on something because of mumbling or confusing sentences?
Jayne Latz, President of Corporate Speech Solutions, proposes that your success heavily relies on your ability to speak. As a 20 year licensed speech pathologist, I would trust her when she says the way you speak relates to success.
It’s frustrating not understanding someone. Now, think about the hiring managers and interview participants that meet hundreds and hundreds of people every week. As a potential employee, you want to stand out and you also want to be clear. Even outside of interviews, being able to effectively communicate ideas is important for networking, finding work, and in the actual workplace.
Latz suggests we “slow down our rate of speech,” and actually, “finish our words,” which may seem like common knowledge, but try listening in everyday conversations to see how often we ignore simple advice.
Check out this website for all of Latz’s advice on successful speech!
