This month, we specially recognize Tonya Sharpe, who is stepping away from St. Ann’s Center’s Board of Directors after concluding her second term on the Board – including three years as President of the Board.
Thank you to everyone - new friends and old - who came out to St. Ann's Center's annual Fall Social on October 5. It was a pleasure to socialize with you and to join in celebrating the families at St. Ann's who have achieved so much on their journeys towards independence and stability.
Through your generous time, talent, and treasure, you have allowed St. Ann’s to continue following the path of Gospel charity illuminated by Saint Vincent and his contemporaries. Thank you for giving us so much to celebrate and be thankful for on this special Feast Day!
St. Ann's Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Augustine Frazer has accepted the role of Vice President of Programs. Dr. Frazer officially began this role with St. Ann's Center on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Last month, St. Ann’s Center received a visit from a former resident who had lived with us as a young child years ago. This visit was her first in decades. We had a wonderful time touring St. Ann’s, recounting her memories of being cared for here, and discussing how St. Ann’s has adapted and evolved into 2022.
At the end of our visit, she asked our staff a simple question: “How can I help?”
With Back-to-School season in full swing, we wanted to share with you just a few ways that your support of St. Ann's Center has created new academic and professional opportunities for our families in residence! Click here to continue reading.
You may know that we celebrated St. Ann’s Day on July 26 – our annual summer celebration with resident families, children in our Child Care Center, and St. Ann’s staff. This event – hosted here at St. Ann’s – includes fun activities and games, food and drink, and of course, ice cream. The day also offered two particularly special moments which have stayed with me over the last week.
St. Ann’s Day 2022 opened with the “mane” event – a real-life Pony Ride held next to our outdoor playground. Skilled trainers from Piscataway Riding Stables accompanied Bishop (horse) and Peanut (pony) to provide rides for all attendees – including mothers and their children who live at St. Ann’s, as well as children from the community enrolled in our Child Care Center.
As a survivor of childhood trauma, sadly, when Melody had no familial or social supports she was placed in Maryland's foster care system. When she became pregnant, she moved again, this time to St. Ann’s Center's Teen Mother-Baby Program.
