This World Social Work Day*, St. Ann’s Center celebrates Celeste Wallace, M.S.W. – recent graduate of Howard University School of Social Work and a member of St. Ann’s Clinical and Social Work Services team. Celeste recently shared about her experiences working alongside the mothers and families living at St. Ann’s – and how she hopes these experiences will inform her future social work career.
This week, St. Ann’s Center staff and residents marked Ash Wednesday with an intimate distribution of ashes in our Chapel. As we gathered, we also recognized that this first day of Lent fell against a backdrop of great need in our world – especially the need for prayers of peace for the people of Ukraine. (Continued...)

On February 1, we marked the Feast of St. Brigid, an early Irish saint known for her creative problem-solving and regarded as a patroness of women and children. During this event, we honored the Daughters of Charity with the Mary McGrory Advocacy Award. We also honored Miguel Coppedge and Jake Garner with the Michele Heidenberger Volunteer Award.
